First of all, a clarification for yesterday’s post: I think people must have missed the “not” part in the “not-selfie” description of the second portrait drawing. 🙂 The 2nd portrait was of Audrey Hepburn. I was showing how doing a portrait in B/W would have been better than the garish color of my face using a limited palette. It was not me; I am not that beautiful.
Today is another piece playing with Neocolors. It’s a character sketch from a picture book story I’m working on. I was wanting to capture the playfulness of crayons, but with the brilliance of Neocolors (kids’ crayons are more faded looking).
Looks awesome! Love the crayon effect.

Thanks for clarifying Teresa. I still love both portraits and you did an awesome job of Audrey Hepburn. Loved the eyes, very exotic! LOL 🙂

Yvette, thank you! I like the story but haven’t hooked an agent with it yet…I’ve only set it out to 2 people so far though, so will keep trying. 🙂

Thanks, Robin! I tried regular crayons before and it just wasn’t bright enough. I wonder if Oliver Jeffers uses Photoshop to enhance his crayon art?

The crayon effect is a good choice to illustrate for children. The colors are wonderful.

They really are wonderful things and I’m amazed at the level of detail you were getting here, Teresa! Broad sweeps of color is where I find they do best. I like this one, great job!

Love that peppermint alien. I thought it was Audrey. My friend in UK is always talking about Audrey.

You have me on the neocolors! I think I feel the need to try them out!
I think you and Audrey look very much alike, so I can’t read but it sure worked for me!

So sweet – lovely feel and the green of the alien is perfect. I think he’s gonna need a few more blocks to build his dream spaceship, though!

*giggle*, Cathe! I’m flattered that people thought Audrey was me, but I didn’t want pretend like she is on my own. 😉 x

Catherine, hahaha! Audrey was adorable in her own way, but never bluish-green. 😀

Thanks, Laura! I need to try more broad sweeps. I’m going to mix Intense with Neocolors in a piece I’m trying out for today. Will see how that works. 🙂

Cute and bright :-). Dating for lego-gifted extra-terrestrials! I suppose that with three eyes one could look in all directions at the same time. Neat!
