Per the conversation my friend Beth – http://www.flubs2fixes.com/ – and I were having, this is the top of a store-bought pineapple. According to the post that Beth shared, this is one of those easy things you can re-grow from scraps. We’d never tried to start one before, so we’ll see what happens.
Good luck!

Thanks, Sharon! It’d be great if we could harvest a pineapple from it. 🙂

What a great idea! I can´t eat them though (allergy), but they sure are pretty to look at. I´ll try that too! Thanks for sharing, Teresa! 😊

we’re doing this too!! 🙂 I think it takes about 10 months to grow one (especially since they have to stay indoors in the winter). we let the pineapple ripen to a very bright orange (with no green), and which point it loses its tartness and actually becomes a bit sweet. easier on the tum tum!!

Right now, it is looking a little ugly with the leaves dying off, but hopefully when the new growth comes in, it will be a beautiful houseplant even if it doesn’t produce fruit. 🙂

It’d make a decent science project if you have a lot of time. 🙂 Ours seems to be taking forever to germinate!

Thanks, Charlie! 🙂 What it comes down to is that Son1 is a packrat and can’t throw out anything… 😛

LOL! It’s been sitting dormant for so long I don’t have high hopes for it. 😉

Great to know; thank you! As I said to my friend Yvette, it’s been sitting seemingly dormant for so long I swear it’s dead, but it’s good to know that it does take that long. Cool!

I’ve heard pineapples are very easy to grow as well. Can’t wait to see it all grown up. 🙂
