Because I didn’t get around to drawing anything today, I’m just going to share another page of the homework of copying the art in The Iridescence of Birds as thumbnails.
Little Henri is in blue and the adult Matisse is in green.
I reserved it at the library. Sometimes books take awhile to come though. I like the blue and green for the different characters, was that part of the assignment? (K)
Kerfe, t was a method some of the students in the past had used to help them see the main character clearer…and I liked the idea. 🙂 I hope you’ll enjoy the book!
I’m gonna check that book out too! I really admire your illustration work. I think you have a gift for it. Nice to find what you’re “supposed” to be doing! 💛💛💛
The sketches have a pleasant flow and joint composition. Very curious to check out the book. I like your use of green and blue :-). It is strange that they are the same person but different people at the same time. Time!
It was the illustrator’s way to show that even after Matisse grew up, he was still the same little boy who loved colors and patterns. I hope your library has it!
My dad is a pro :-D. I just can’t seem to get the hang of it. I didn’t inherit the “well organized” gene. Moving was unfun… but I am enjoying my new neighbourhood :-)… and the lack of neighbours yelling at each other at 6:30 in the morning!

I love how you had him both as a boy and a man sharing the same frame. What a lovely portrayal.

There are more than one kid’s books about the life of Henri Matisse…I haven’t read the other one myself, but this one is beautiful! 🙂
