So, I have a happy deadline coming up fast and will likely post a number of old stuff for a week or two. Also may not be getting around to as much blog-reading or commenting during that time. My apologies to blogging friends.
Here’s the first of a series of 5 hands done for Doodle Day last April. It’s good to practice hands. Apparently art directors look for an ability to draw them.
Good luck with the deadline 🙂

Thanks, Al! It’ll be fun. It’s some illustration work. 🙂

Great hand T. I should practice those some time.

That is excellent. The hand remains one of the most interesting things to draw. Are you an art director or just out to impress an art director?

Well done! Look forward to seeing more! Good luck with the deadline. 😊

Have fun, Teresa. Love the hand! Is this after Da Vinci (or I could be thinking of a famous hand sketch by someone else)?

You conquered Everest with that sketch. It’s awesome. Yep, there’s a good reason why they look for folks who can draw hands – every artist is scared of tackling them! And feet are just as hard. Good luck with your deadline.

Good idea; and you always have a model with you! 😀 I’ve drawn my own hands a lot.

Thanks, Kirk! I wish I were an art director but I have no formal training in art. I am, however, trying to impress some art directors (and trying to tell them “please, please, please hire me” telepathically…LOL).

Thanks, Jill! I have to admit that deadlines help me work more effectively. 🙂

Oh, if only I could draw like da Vinci! 😀 No, the prompt was pointing, and I pointed with my left hand and drew it with my right hand. LOL!

Oh my gosh; you’re so right! Feet are impossible! I need to practice more feet. 🙂 Thanks for your sweet compliment, Yvette!

I think Mr. Deadline can be a good friend to have – otherwise it is too easy to procrastinate! 😊

Wow, your hand sketches are so fantastic. They make me jealous. I’m going to have to keep practicing. This one looks like quite a difficult pose too but you captured it really well.

Thanks so much! The great thing about drawing your own hand is that it’s with you all the time and you don’t have to pay extra for modeling fees. 😉

Very true. My hand and my mannequin are my favourite life drawing models and of those two the hand is definitely the most versatile.

Mannequins are lovely but there is that live, organic flow to the hand that you just can’t get with the wooden model. 🙂
